This Green Winged Cicada (Diceroprocta vitripennis) is an annual variety. I managed to grab a few photos on my phone. Cicada wings are tiny and compressed when they emerge, but it didn’t take long for the beautiful green wings to fully unfurl and carry the insect away… leaving its former self behind.

These are beautiful, Darcy! I haven’t managed to see a single dog-day cicada this year, but we did host the periodic cicadas in early summer and loved having them here: https://plotfiftyfive.blogspot.com/2016/05/magicicada.html
