ring-billed gull at Point Pelee National Park
This ring-billed gull was playing along the shore of Point Pelee National Park, a narrow strip of protected sand spit that protrudes into Lake Erie in Ontario. It is the southernmost part of Canada, at about the same latitude as California’s northern border. In the fall monarch butterflies migrate long the spit before heading out over the Great Lake on their way south for a winter stay in the mountains of Mexico.
